MANGA DALIZU             Red II

Founder & Head Coach

Manga founded FAST in January 1992, when the Fairland Aquatic Center first opened and has been at the helm ever since.  Manga was instrumental in guiding the program through its early years, focusing on attracting swimmers and giving them the fundamentals of swimming. After establishing a solid foundation, he then set about taking the program to higher levels of achievement.  The team became more competitive in local meets, qualifying swimmers for local championship meets, and eventually began placing swimmers on Potomac Valley All Star teams. FAST has been qualifying swimmers for the Long Course Eastern Zone Champs since 1995.

Manga has coached 2 swimmers to National Rankings, one swimmer was voted Potomac Valley Outstanding Swimmer of the Year, 4 Sectionals qualifiers, 1 Eastern Zone champion and current meet record holder, 1 Junior National qualifier and Finalist, and 1 All American  consideration honors.

Manga recently 'retired' from the high school coaching ranks, having finished his 7th year at Blake High School in Silver Spring. The Lady Bengals have been Division Champs 5 of their 7 years of existence, and finished 3rd  in Montgomery County this past year. Before starting the team at Blake, Manga spent 3 years as  Head coach of Paint Branch, and 4 years at Eleanor Roosevelt in Greenbelt, where both boys and girls teams were County Champs each of the four years he coached them. This past summer marked Manga’s 16th season as the Head Coach of Ashton Swim Team in the MCSL.
