Summer is here and that means summer leagues, beach trips, grilling, and just kicking back in general. Summer league swimming is always fun but let's remember to keep the big picture in mind.

It's easy to get caught up in all the excitement from week to week, who won what events, which teams are undefeated, etc but over the long haul summer league swim should only bepart of the competitive swimmers profile. Too often everything revolves around the local team, and all the hard work that was put in from September through May gets flushed down the drain.

A few simple reminders to keep this from happening. Continue to attend practice consistently. If not swimming with us this summer, attend your local team practices and lead by example. Drink lots of fluids and stay hydrated. That can't be stressed enough. Avoid staying up into the wee hours of the night every day. Remember to do strokes correctly at all times. It's easy to be 'good' when the coach is watching. When the coaches are working with other swimmers are you still doing correct strokes? When conflicts arise, address them immediately so that a solution can be worked out to the benefit of the swimmer. When the coach enters swimmers in different events, keep in mind that it's because the coach feels it's to the teams advantage, and that's why the decision was made. Be a team player and ask what you can do for your team, not what it can do for you.

Good Luck and have FUN!

What's New...

Other than a few delays getting the meet started this past Sunday, it ran fairly smooth. A big Thanks to Rick Moyer for linig up all the Officials, to Hal Freeman for coordinating concessions, and to Beth Friedman for organizing our renowned Hospitality! Thanks to Lea Fitzsimons and Brandy McCray for manning the table all day long. And Lea didn't have a swimmer in either session!
